According to Experts, There Will be no Repetition of Chernobyl Like Disaster for Japan

As stated by the experts Japan should not be expecting a disaster like Chernobyl after the roof of its one nuclear plant blew off after the quakes damaged the power plants.

Experts told that pictures suggested that only little amount of leakage occurred due to measures taken to ensure the stability which were far less from the clouds after the Chernobyl explosion in 1986.

According to Valeriy Hlyhalo who is deputy director Chernobyl safety center, the explosion at Fukushima plant which occurred today is not going to be another Chernobyl like disaster.

He further added that Japanese reactors were safer than Chernobyl where more than 30 firefighters got killed in explosion.  The worst nuclear disaster Chernobyl is also blamed for deaths in thousands due to illness linked to radiation.  Although these reactors have the ability to work in a zone with high seismicity so the consequences will not be like Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

Japanese officials stated on Saturday that water from sea will be put into leaking reactor to help it cool down and thus reducing pressure and the core of the reactor was also intact.

It was difficult to make sure that the container having steel reactor was not shattered during the explosion or during the earthquake as per experts.

Professor Paddy Regan who is nuclear physicist in Surrey University told that if pressure vessel explodes just like in case of Chernobyl there is enormous discharge of radioactive substance.  It does not look like from television pictures as if it is the vessel.

An explosion was shown in television footage in the zone of reactor number one at Daiichi.  Grey smoke emitted from the spot and the building without the exterior walls was shown.
