Singer George Michael has revealed that the song that he will play at the wedding of Prince William with Kate Middleton is a cover of the song “You and I” played originally by Stevie Wonder in 1972.
George Michael (birth name: Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou), the 47-years-old English musician, songwriter, singer, and record producer, who was a close friend of the late princess Diana, mother of Prince William, thinks that this song is the perfect choice and encouraged his fans to download it for free on the Internet.
“The song is called ‘You and I’. It was written in 1972 and recorded in the same year by the wonderful Mr. Stevie Wonder”, Michael said on the show “Piers Morgan Tonight”on CNN.
George Michael has worked on this idea and recorded the song in a week. He was inspired by the beautiful weather in London in recent years, but also by the wish to prove his joy for the marriage of William with Kate.
The star said that he believes that Princess Diana, who died in a car accident in 1997, was a “fantastic” parent to Princes William and Harry.
“I think she was an absolutely fantastic mother. How else would have these guys survived so well?” said Michael.
