In the real estate world, it is as famous as the actors who starred in “Home Alone 1”. The red brick house, a movie set for the 1990 American movie, is up for sale. The price is estimated at almost 2.5 million dollars.
The house owners, John and Cynthia Abendshien, said that the reason for them to selling the famous house is that their daughter has grown and moved out, and the four-bedroom house is too big for the two of them.
In the beginning, the couple have twice refused a proposal from the producers to shoot the movie in their home. Eventually, the Abendshiens accepted.
During the filming of “Home Alone 1”, the family lived in their house, located north of Chicago. While shooting the movie, which lasted nearly six months, their daughter has become friends with Macaulay Culkin, the actor who starred as Kevin McCallister, youngest son of a large family, who was accidentally left home alone, after the family leaves for a winter vacation. Along with Macaulay Culkin, playing in the film were actors Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, the two thieves who want, at any price, to rob the house where Kevin lives.
Selling the house featured in “Home Alone 1” is not the only real estate transaction that has to do with the film industry. ABC News announced that the house where they filmed the comedy “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (1986) will also be sold. Meanwhile, the house that held the wedding scene from the movie “The Godfather” (1972), a house in New York, Tudor style, is on sale. The property was put up for sale in December for $3 million.
