Air Force One – a New $223 Million Plane that Can Withstand the Apocalypse

It can withstand a nuclear attack and a meteorite impact and has a flight range of a few days, and from its board, both country and a world war can be easily managed – this is the new Air Force One, the U.S. presidential plane, according to the description made by Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper.

The plane, a modified Boeing 747, is protected by a shield with electromagnetic pulse capable of reflecting nuclear radiation. Furthermore, the aircraft can take off within minutes and reaches a top speed of 1,000 kilometers per hour.

Despite its size, the plane can fly for days without having to refuel. There is always a team of technicians on the board who supervise over 68 tones of cutting-edge electronic equipment.

Passengers on board have access to connections with the ground and the U.S. submarine crews. Specially for this purpose, behind the aircraft there is 8 km of cable. “Give us the phone number of any person in the world and we will make contact with her whether it’s day or night” – affirms Sergeant Major Joe Stuart.

70 meters long and 410,000 liter tank

The plane and crew, who has received special training, are under President’s orders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, reported Captain Scott Ryder, in an intervention at ABC News. However, the powerful flying machine, weighing nearly 186 tones, has its disadvantages – small bathrooms and no showers – he adds. “An almost Spartan regime”, said the captain.

The plane has a length of 70 meters, a wingspan of 60 meters, and has a reservoir with a volume of 410,000 liters. The aircraft can host up to 112 persons, including a team of U.S. military elite. “They are the first to descend from the plane in an emergency and make a walk around the aircraft”, added Ryder.
