Saturday, Londoners have took again to the streets, to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Queen. Prince William’s wife, Catherine, now the Duchess of Cambridge, took part officially for the first time to this ceremony, making her appearance in a carriage with William’s younger brother – Prince Harry, Camilla – Duchess of Cornwall and Andrew – Duke of York.
Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, was again a charming presence, as we are already accustomed, spellbinding the audience with her wide smile. She wore an ivory dress accessorized with a black hat, while Prince William, who rode on the horseback throughout the official parade, wore the Irish Guard uniform, in fact, the same we’ve seen at the wedding on April 29, with the traditional high-bearskin hat.
The Queen appeared in a carriage with Prince Philip, who turned 90 on Friday, while a brass band was playing the British anthem – “God Save The Queen”.
Although Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain turned 85 in April, the public ceremony of officially celebrating the birthday of the Queen is a traditional English custom to be celebrated on a Saturday in early June, since 1748.
