Facelift for Ferrari California

Ferrari is resorting to facelifts very rarely, and when it does, images of cars freshly reviewed seem ideal for headings of “guess the differences”. So let’s see what Ferrari California boasts, for the exterior.

We will not insist on new bumpers and redesigning the headlights because they are missing entirely. Nothing new apart from the old Ferrari California, other than the pillars that have now a matte silver color, inspired by another famous Ferrari convertible, the exclusive SA Aperta. The same color was used for side vents, above which is showing the “Scuderia” logo. In such conditions, new exterior colors available for the machine can be considered an important addition to the list of options for future customers. That’s all about the exterior that Ferrari California will rely on to boost sales.

However, the interesting part is coming now. The engine of the convertible has more power and is capable of 490 hp, 30 hp more than the previous model. Naturally, the propeller torque was also increased, now reaching 505 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The power of the new Ferrari California, however, is not its only point of interest. The weight of the car was lowered by 30 kg. Ferrari, however, relies not only on this for increased maneuverability, offering the Special Handling Package. This includes magnetic shocks, with improved ECU management and a response time 50% shorter.

The power steering is now 10% faster, thanks to revised steering system. The new Ferrari California will debut at Geneva Motor Show 2012, and then the list of orders will remain open.
