Panasonic launches the Eluga “User-Oriented Elegant GAteway”, a smartphone that comes with a screen that occupies about 66% of the phone, with a very thin frame around it. With a profile of only 7.8 mm over the entire length of the phone and a very thin “D” shape, the phone will not change the clothes’ line and can be easily carried in any pocket. Moreover, the 8MP embedded camera, is also flat and naturally integrated in the phone case.
Phone specifications of Panasonic Eluga include:
- D-shaped design, very thin, with a frame of 123 x 62 x 7.8 mm.
- Water and dust resistant, IP57 international standard. The phone is protected for use in water depths up to 1 m for 30 minutes and is dust (particles with a diameter of 75 micrometers or less) resistant if left in such an environment up to 8 hours.
- Near-field communication (NFC) technology built-in, which means the phone is ready for ‘no touch’ interaction, including contactless payments.
- A 4.3-inch QHD OLED screen, 960 x 540 pixels.
- Swipe and Share technology allows users to view images from the phone directly on a Viera TV or upload them to the cloud. - 8 MP camera with autofocus and 8GB of memory.
- 1 GHz dual-core processor (OMAP4430), Android Gingerbread (version 2.3.5) integrated, upgradeable to Ice Cream Sandwich.
- Eluga has also, the “eco” mode, unique technology developed by Panasonic to reduce energy consumption by closing non-essential functions of the phone when the battery reaches the minimum.
“Despite unprecedented growth in the number of smartphones launched in recent years, we do not believe that someone managed to build a perfect bridge between style and substance. With the launch of Eluga, our goal is to demonstrate that it is possible to offer consumers style and functionality, and form but also the best technology, all in a very competitive package and price”, said Toshiya Matsumura, General Manager, Head of Mobile Communications, Panasonic Communications System Europe.
Panasonic Eluga will be presented by Panasonic at Mobile World Congress to be held between February 27 and March 1, 2012 in Barcelona.
