Tiger Caged by Graeme McDowell in Sherwood Playoff

Tiger Woods lost a four stroke lead and then lost the playoff to Graeme McDowell, all to lose the Chevron World Challenge on Sunday and end his miserable year on a down.

Woods lost for the first time in his career after leading by at least three strokes, at the Sherwood Country club.

McDowell, reigning US Open champion, put pressure on Tiger, as he got a double bogey on hole 13 which the Northern Irishman birdied, for a two stroke lead.

McDowell let the lead slip away when he bogeyed twice to send the pair into a playoff.

McDowell hit a tree on the 18th but the ball landed at a nice spot, he was able to find green on the second shot and then put the ball in the hole from 20 feet, leaving Woods to birdie to stay in the playoff.

Woods said he fought hard and the battle was great. And he felt great.

Woods celebrated a great second shot on the 18th with a trademark fist pump. This event is not the part of the official PGA tour.

Woods was backed by the crowd to win his first tournament after his troubles, but McDowell showed great metal to win the match.

McDowell was ecstatic after the win saying that the whole year had been great for him, beating the best golfer the game has seen for a very long time.

Woods private life was greatly troubled by some serious allegations, some thirteen months ago.

Woods remained out of the game for five months, recovering from the shock he had been in, but he could not recover and ended the year title-less, for the first time since he turned pro, in 1996.
