Blackhawks took revenge of their defeat from the hands of Calgary Flames earlier in the season with a 4-2 win on Sunday. But lost All-Star Patrick Kane injured himself few minutes into the game.
Dave Bolland scored both the goals for Chicago, both coming in the power play, with one into an empty net. Chicago Blackhawks were defeated 7-2 by Flames on November 19.
Blackhawks leading scorer last season, Kane injured himself with barely a minute into the game when he fell trying to avoid a hit. Coach Quenneville said the player could be out for sometime.
Queneville said the position of the player’s injury will be cleared on Monday, but said that the injury was not too serious.
Chicago (15-12-2) scored thrice in the first period, with five goals coming in the power play from both teams, despite the absence of Kane.
Blackhawks led 2-0 with goals from Bolland and Bryan Bickell, but the Flames came back to square the game with Jarome Ignila and Babchuk scoring the goals.
With 2:27 left in the game, Blackhawks took the lead again, Jonathan Toews scoring the goal. The victory was secured by Bolland after Calgary opted for an extra skater by pulling off their goaltender.
Goaltender Carey Crawford of Chicago made 24 saves and now has a six game winning streak to his record.
Calgary’s keeper Miikka Kiprusoff made 28 saves. Calgary remain last in the Northwest Division.
