DiCaprio Attacker Accepts Charges of Assault

Aretha Wilson (40), the woman who allegedly smashed a glass in Leonardo DiCaprio’s face at a party in 2005, pleaded no contest to the charges brought against her.

She was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and her sentence is expected this month. Most likely she will receive a two-year detention under a plea agreement.

The attack took place during a Hollywood Hills party in 2005, at the home of Paris Hilton’s sex tape partner Rick Salomon.

According to Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg, it is yet unclear if Aretha Wilson will spend the detention in a US jail or if she will be credited for home detention at her residence in Canada, where she lived before her extradition to the US in order to attend trial. Wilson’s attorney said it was more likely that she would serve the rest of her sentence in a California prison than in home-detention. She has already served 330 days in jail.

Her attack cause injuries to Leonardo DiCaprio’s neck and ear and he has undergone surgery to repair the damage.  The actor signed a contract earlier this month to star in and produce an adaptation of “The Devil in the White City”, a novel by Eric Larson.
