Google opened its social network Google+, launched in June, for anyone who wishes to register, no longer needing an invitation from an older member of the network, and added features of video chat and search to attract new members, writes Bloomberg.
The company made the Hangouts function, that facilitates group videoconferencing, available for mobile phones and internet live play.
Google also added new search features to Google+ and many other options, including for Hangouts. Thus, the U.S. giant has brought the number of “features” of Google+, ie, functions, services and features that serve its users at 100.
According to ComScore Inc., Google+ had about 29 million visitors in July, when registration was made only by invitation from a current member of the network.
Google+ is the most ambitious project of Google in the social networking area and directly attacks Facebook, the largest such service on the Internet, with over 750 million members.
Google has launched last month a free online game service in partnership with Zynga, the developer of Farmville, and Rovio Entertainment, creator of Angry Birds. Farmville is the most successful game on Facebook, and Angry Birds is very popular on smartphones and tablets.
Vic Gundotra ,Vice President of Google claims that there are over a billion posts, photos and other content posted daily on Google+.
The new search function on the social network may find the content on Google+ and Internet content in general.
Among the improvements to the Hangouts, Google wants to allow users to send other content type, in addition to video. Other new features include the ability to show others what is displayed on the user screen or draw “by hand” with friends.
The company also connected Google Docs to Google+, allowing users to create and edit different types of documents directly on their social platform.
