An explanation for the unimaginable atrocities that are happening in Muslim states is the low level of culture of the population.
Sunday, 20 March 2011. Several members of a fundamentalist Christian church in Florida, led by the eccentric Pastor Terry Jones, staged a “trial” of the Quran. Muslim holy book is found “guilty” of murder, terrorism and other crimes against peace and humanity. Therefore, it is “condemned” to burning, the sentence being carried out under the gaze of video cameras.
Friday, April 1, 2011. Over a thousand Afghans are gathering in front of the UN office in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif to protest the affront to Islam by the Yankee with a Hollywood star name. Protest turns into a bloodbath, demonstrators taking by storm the building and killing several people.
Sure, any man with a whole head on his shoulders in a modern society will ask how can you kill someone because someone else at the other end of the world set fire to a book? Even if it’s a sacred book for your faith and your peers. The act of “autodafé” overseas is reprehensible, undoubtedly, but the answer can not be the massacre of innocents. Unfortunately, Afghanistan today is not an environment of civilization, but of barbarity. As in many other countries governed by the Islamic laws, should be added, with the risk of being put to the index by the religious intolerance.
Reasons are many. The urge to punish the “infidels” (ie, those who did not worship Allah or do not worship Muhammad) is a late interpretation. The Prophet himself says: “The sword is the key to heaven and hell. One drop of blood spilled for the cause of God, a night under arms – are more useful than two months of fasting and prayer. ” It is a quote from the English historian Edward Gibbon included in the monumental “History of the decline and fall of the Roman Empire”. This is the essence of a religion built on the foundations of surrendering, ‘submission to God’, the translation of the word Islam.
Another explanation for the unimaginable atrocities that are happening in Muslim states is the low level of culture of the population. The rate of illiteracy in Afghanistan is two-thirds. More specifically, only 34% of citizens know how to read and write. Therefore, these people did not even know what the Quran says, so they have no choice but to listen to what the imam tells them!
The last argument is logical in nature. Suppose that some protesters had burned the Bible in Kandahar, therefore offending the whole of Christianism. Even if they would be desperate to find any crazy extremist that, in retaliation, would shoot Muslim immigrants, would that be possible? Reply to this question and you will understand what separates civilization from barbarism.
