Topless photos of Marilyn Monroe taken at her last photo session, which took place six weeks before the death of the American actress, will be auctioned in New York, in May. This set of vintage pictures on chromogenic prints was made by photographer Bert Stern just six weeks before the death of American actress, in August 1962 at the age of 36 years, informs dailymail.co.uk. They were taken for a special photo session, called “The Last Sitting”, commissioned by Vogue magazine. Marilyn Monroe, very photogenic, was pictured posing as a professional model while playing with a see-through scarf; she looked like she enjoyed herself a lot during the photo shoot.
Since these pictures were exhibited for many years, their original color has suffered some minor “changes”, but, even so, experts expect them to be purchased for an amount exceeding $25,000. There is a huge demand for the pictures in the world, especially because they are sold as a whole. Usually a set of pictures like these are sold individually. Bidding will be conducted by auction house Bonhams in New York on May 8th.
Marilyn Monroe was found dead in the bedroom of her Brentwood, Los Angeles Villa on August 5, 1962. According to American doctors, the actress’s death was caused by “acute barbiturate poisoning” and is was “most likely the result of suicide.” It is believed that the last person who spoke to the actress was U.S. President John F. Kennedy, who had with the Hollywood star a passionate connection.
In another article published on the British tabloid Daily Mail is mentioned that the villa in which Marilyn Monroe and John F. Kennedy met in secret, was put up for sale for $12 million dollars. Built mainly of steel and glass with a minimalist design, the villa is located a few miles from Los Angeles and belonged to singer Frank Sinatra, a close friend of the actress and former U.S. president.
