King’s answer to Protests in Bahrain: Ministerial Reshuffle

Bahrain’s King Hamad ibn Issa Al-Khalifa made Saturday a reshuffle of ministerial duties, changing the responsibilities for five of them but retained them in the Government, announced the official agency BNA.

The reshuffle comes almost two weeks after the start of popular uprising demanding a regime change in this kingdom with a Shiite majority, but governed by the Sunni Al-Khalifa dynasty for over two centuries.

Sheikh Khalifa ibn Salman Al-Khalifa, Prime Minister since 1971, was the target of angry demonstrators’ protests, but was not affected by this reshuffle. He is the non-elected prime minister for longest time in the world, being in the office for almost 40 years. Khalifa ibn Salman Al Khalifa is the richest in the family that rules Bahrain.
