A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6 on the Richter scale occurred Tuesday evening in the south-west of Tokyo, where buildings were shaken.
The epicenter was located in Shizuoka prefecture, about 120 kilometers south-west of the capital, and near Mount Fuji, an area where strong earthquakes were felt, according to Japan Meteorological Agency.
Hypocenter of the earthquake was located just ten kilometers deep, the agency said.
The US Geological Survey Institute (USGS) assessed the magnitude of the earthquake at 6.1.
The two nuclear reactors which lies closest to this area are working normally, according to information from the electricity company Chubu Electric Power, quoted by Jiji Press agency.
Japan is currently the victim of an impressive series of earthquakes, followed by numerous aftershocks.
