Babies who cry excessively and have problems when they are breastfed, or have a “messy” sleep, are at a higher risk to develop behavioral problems in the future, say experts.
One in five babies has symptoms that “predict” the occurrence of behavioral problems in the near future, according to a study published in Archives of Disease in Childhood, study which analyzed 17,000 children.
Crying is a normal manifestation of babies, but if it happens excessively, and after three months of age, without any reason (other than colic), may be a sign that they will develop behavioral problems as will grow up.
“Parents are the best to know when something happens to their child, and this study emphasizes the real need for attention required by children to prevent possible future problems”, said Professor Mitch Blair, at the Royal College of pediatrics and Child Health.
