For Christians, Jesus is the Son of God, for Muslims he is a prophet, the messenger of Allah.
In Islamic tradition, Jesus appears as one of the prophets and, obviously, he’s considered a Muslim. According to the Quran, Jesus (Isa in Arabic) is a messenger sent to earth to preach monotheism, a man beyond all sins, born of the Virgin Mary to the will of Allah (similar to Adam’s creation), who sent the angel Gabriel.
While the message of Jesus in Christianity is centered around love, for Muslims, his mission was to preach absolute obedience to the will of Allah. Islam rejects as heresy the divinity of Jesus and everyone else, including Mohammad, based on the absolute principle that God (Allah) is unique in his divinity. Jesus is considered a precursor of Mohammad and he would have even announced the latter’s arrival.
Christians praised in the Quran
Quran says that Jesus received from God the power to perform miracles to convince people of his message. But Islam’s holy book claims that Jesus was not crucified, or even killed, but rose to heaven. As is clear from the writings of the Muslim writings, Jesus will return to earth on the Day of Judgement when he will restore justice and defeat the so-called “false messiah”, that is the Antichrist, and the enemies of Islam.
Quran also states that Jesus was accompanied by his disciples called “God’s aids”. A quote from the Quran shows how important is Jesus in Islam: “Jesus is the greatest of all in this world and the world to come”, The Christians are also praised in the Quran: “If you, Muslim, are in doubt, questions about what Allah has shown you, then ask advice from those (Christians) who read the Bible”.
