Facebook, the biggest social networking site acknowledged that it has hired a PR company to spread through the media information about violations of user privacy by Google.
Details about this matter were revealed after an email exchange was published by a blogger contacted by the PR firm Burson-Marsteller, according to BBC.
Burson-Marsteller, one of the largest PR firms in the world, tried to convince USA Today, Washington Post, and other major news agencies, to publish defamatory news about Google privacy policies.
On the other hand, Facebook has confirmed that it hired Burson-Marsteller in order to expose things about Google regarding the breach of confidentiality, but denied that it had initiated a smear campaign.
“Americans need to be aware of the intrusions into their personal lives by Google, which provides information every minute, every day”, said blogger Chris Soghain.
