TV Watching Increases the Risk of Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease

If you stay too long in front of the TV, you should know that it is not a healthy habit. A new study shows that two hours a day in front of the TV increase the risk of type 2 diabetes by 20%. The study was published in this week’s edition of “Journal of the American Medical Association”, informs Men’s Health.

Also, there was an increase of 15% probability of suffering from cardiovascular disease. Excessive time spent watching television increases the risk of premature death from any cause by 13%.

More and more people spend a lot of time watching TV and a better understanding of the impact on health is needed, says Frank B. Hu, co-author of the study. Such passive activity encourages consumption of unhealthy food. In addition, it’s also about the lack of exercise. On the other hand, people who do not watch much TV are more healthy, show the same study.
