Actor Patrick Dempsey, star of TV series “Grey’s Anatomy” will become the new owner of coffee chain “Tully’s Coffee”, which is headquartered in Seattle, informs contactmusic.com. The actor made the purchase through his company Global Baristas LLC, at a public auction, against several competitors, among them the famous Starbucks company.
Enjoying victory against the giant Starbucks, Patrick Dempsey has posted the following message on Twitter: “We met the green monster, looked her in the eye, and … she blinked! We got it!”
“I’m even more excited about saving Tully’s Coffee and its hundreds of jobs,” the actor added in a statement.
Patrick Dempsey with his company bid $9.15 million for Tully’s Coffee. “We can pull this off. We just have to take steps that are slow and smart. I’m going to get behind the counter. I’m going to serve coffee … I’m going to give the company a boost of energy,” he told the Associated Press. The bid is expected to be official at a court hearing January 11.
Tully’s Coffee chain, which has cafes in Washington and Los Angeles, filed in October 2012 for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Law.
Recently, Patrick Dempsey has expressed his intention to inaugurate a bicycle store, where fans of the sport will be able to talk to each other in a relaxed environment.
The 46-old star, who has three children – Tallulah, aged 10, and twins Sullivan and Darby, aged 5 – with his second wife’s, Jillian, is passionate about cycling. In a recent interview, he revealed that in order to improve his athletic performance, he shaves the hair on his legs and gave up sex life.

He was nominated for an Emmy Award.
