Amy Winehouse: Back after Almost Three Years

Amy Winehouse has announced that she will perform in Brazil in January 2011, the four scheduled concerts being the first live shows which the British singer will support after a break of almost three years, according to a statement posted Wednesday on the her website.

Amy Winehouse will hold three concerts in the Summer Soul Festival in Brazil – January 8, in Florianopolis, January 13, in Recife, and on January 15 in Sao Paolo. On January 11, British singer will hold another show at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.

The soul singer, Janelle Mona will perform at the opening of all four concerts, and Mayer Hawthorne will play on the same stage with Amy Winehouse in the Summer Soul Festival.

These will be the first live concerts that will support Amy Winehouse after a break of three years. Since 2008, the singer has canceled a series of shows, including participation in the famous Coachella festival in 2009.

Amy Winehouse has not released any album in three years. The British artist’s latest album, entitled “Back To Black” has sold over 10 million copies and won five Grammy. But after the release, Amy Winehouse has had to face many health problems and struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. In the last three years, Winehouse was one of the favorite topics of British tabloids, more scandals than for her music. The singer, with an exceptional voice, is known for her problems related to drugs, alcohol, tend to self-mutilation, anorexia and bulimia. Amy Winehouse has made several short courses for addiction, and lately, it seems that she made order in her personal life.

Also, “It’s My Party”, her first recording from the “Back to Black” album, released in 2006, was included in the recently launched compilation by Quincy Jones, entitled “Q: Soul Bossa Nostra.”
