AT&T Releases New and Cheaper Family Data Plans

AT&TAT&T has just launched its new and cheaper family wireless data plans to its customers, effective today, Sunday. Dubbed by the Dallas-based carrier company the “best-ever prices,” the new set of 10GB family plans + unlimited talk and text now starts at $130 per month for two smartphones. The original price for a one smartphone was $100, with an additional fee for every additional device.

For families with three smartphones, the monthly charge is $130, $160 for four smartphones, and $175 for five smartphones. Therefore, new AT&T customers can now enjoy around 20% less of the original prices. This new set of prices is cheaper than what Verizon charges: $180 for two lines, $220 for three lines, $260 for four lines, and $300 for five lines.

For families with more than five lines AT&T will charge $15 for every additional line, instead of the usual price of $25. This new price plan is also applicable to current AT&T smartphone users. The company noted that a family or a small business with four smartphones can now enjoy monthly savings of at least $40, up to $100, depending on the plan they are now using.

“These new plans give customers what they want – our best-ever prices on a best-in-class network. We’re making it easy for families who want it all – great service, great value and big bucket of data to share.” said, AT&T Mobility chief marketing officer David Christopher on the company’s site on Saturday.

Last Wednesday, AT&T started to offer a $100 credit for every new line of service that will be added, regardless if the device is a tablet, a smartphone, or a mobile hot spot. This offer is applicable to all existing customers and new ones and is being offered until March 31, 2014, but is still subject for change.

Meanwhile, Verizon is being rumored to also lower its monthly charges soon. Nonetheless, AT&T’s new prices are still more expensive than T-Mobile’s offer. On the other hand, Sprint is still a strong competitor.
