Baby, Searched at the Airport

Strict controls on American airports are common, especially after the September 11 attacks, but sometimes create unexpected incidents.

This happened recently in the Kansas City airport, where security officers scanned a baby. Jacob Jester, a passenger, captured the moment and posted on his Twitter account the picture showing how the baby is searched.

Baby’s mother, calm and cooperative, holds the child, and security officers search the baby while smiling. But Jacob Jester wonders whether this kind of action is extreme or exaggerated.

The controversy ended to be newspapers subject matter. The airport authorities have responded quickly and answered the allegations. “The staff has done its duty and followed the instructions after the alarm was triggered. In addition, the parents were not opposed and they were on time in the airplane”.

Security or paranoia?

“Terrorists are willing to do anything to escape the search and TSA (Transportation Security Administration) has improved the search methods to make them less invasive for people who do not represent a danger, especially for young passengers”, explain Transportation Security Agency representatives on their web site.

The photo posted by Pastor Jacob Jester on Twitter made him a hero. Especially in front of those who consider searching being excessive and even abusive. When Jacob Jester saw the huge media coverage of the incident, he apologized to parents for releasing the baby’s picture.
