Egyptian Press: Medical records exclude the hypothesis that Hosni Mubarak has cancer

Mubarak on a stretcherHosni Mubarak’s medical record contains no indication that he would suffer from cancer, pro-government newspaper al-Ahram announced on Saturday, contradicting statements of  former Egyptian President’s lawyers.

“All the medical tests show that Mubarak don’t have cancer”, is the Al-Ahram headline.

The lawyer of former President said in June that Mubarak has a cancer of digestive system and the tumor spread.

“The last medical report on the health of former President Hosni Mubarak said that he is suffering from kidney failure and heart problems”, says Al-Ahram, citing medical sources at the International Medical Center.

The document, however, exclude the presence of cancer, adds the newspaper, adding that the former president, aged 83 years, will be subject, on the following days, to a new medical examination, which will finally clarify the situation.

Al-Ahram said the oncologist who saw Mubarak contacted the doctor who cared for him in Germany to obtain a copy of medical records. In March 2010, the former President of Egypt suffered in Germany a surgical intervention for removal of the gallbladder and a duodenal polyp.

Hosni Mubarak was overthrown on February 11, following a popular uprising during which there were killed, according to official data, 846 people. Currently, he is on trial for corruption and for ordering police to open fire on demonstrators.
