British millionaire John McAfee, founder of security software company that bears his name, was arrested in Belize, a small country located on the east coast of Central America, in the Caribbean, writes Daily Mail. There was a unlicensed weapon and drugs found on McAfee’s property, according to the notes British journalists. McAfee didn’t have a license for the drugs’ production. John McAfee’s home in Orange Walk district of Belize City was surrounded on Monday by police and bodyguards. According to the owner of the famous IT company McAfee, 30 GSU officers with automatic weapons have “crashed” his house, turning it “upside down” and killed his dog then handcuffed him and other 11 people found on the premises and kept him without food or water for 14 hours.
The 67 years-old founder who created the famous McAfee antivirus company, moved from the United States to Belize, a former British colony, in 2008, due to the risks to lose his entire estate after a series of lawsuits. John McAfee was born in UK and raised in Virginia. The eccentric entrepreneur now runs a company producing antibiotics in the Belize (formerly British Honduras), considered a paradise because of its natural factors, geographical location, safe waters for boating, scuba diving, jungle and wildlife reserves.
According to Daily Mail, John McAfee said he was arrested for refusing to donate money to a local politician. Therefore, it is all a setup, British millionaire says. “Monday morning at six o’clock I was awakened by a megaphone. I went into the yard to see what happens and I found about 30 bodyguards dressed in uniform, armed with weapons, which ravaged my property trying to find something,” McAfee told the TV channel 5 news in Belize. “It all started when I refused to donate money to a local politician. I have given at least two million dollars to the police departments in Orange Walk, the district where I live in Belize City,” said McAfee.
Representatives of the Gang Services Unit say that they have found a deposit of weapons owned by McAfee. In addition, the millionaire has no license to produce antibiotic drugs which he sells on the market. John McAfee was born in England but moved to the United States at an early age. He founded the software company that bears his name in 1989 from his apartment in Santa Clara, California. Subsequently, McAfee has become one of the largest software companies in the world. In 2010 was acquired by Intel for $7.68 billion. John McAfee has lost most of his money during the financial crisis. Today, his fortune is estimated at less than $4 million from $100 million he was worth before 2008.
