France Expels Libyan Diplomats Loyal to Gadhafi

French Foreign Ministry, Alain Juppé, ordered yesterday several Libyan diplomats who worked in Paris to leave the country for the reason that they are still loyal to the regime of Colonel Muammar Gadhafi, informs the Saturday’s edition of the American newspaper “New York Times”.

The 14 Libyan diplomats that were asked to leave were accredited for diplomatic missions in France, their “fault” being that they still recognize the dictator of Tripoli as the leader of their country.

“France has taken a leadership role in supporting rebels who are fighting the troops of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. Thus, all the14 diplomats have been declared “persona non grata” and were given between 24 and 48 hours to leave the country”, writes the “New York Times” newspaper.

Former Libyan Ambassador in Paris, Mohamed Salaheddin Zarema, resigned from the post he held in late February, disagreeing with the violence used by Gadhafi’s regime against the protesters who demonstrated oin the streets.

The decision taken by the French officials comes a few days after UK has expelled the Libyan diplomats loyal to the dictatorship regime from Tripoli.
