Harry Potter Sets the Stage For Holiday Movies

The young British wizard will give the start for the second highest movie sales season of the year with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” which is to be premiered in London on November 18 and a worldwide debut the next day.

The movie is the first in a two-part ending to Happy Potter’s adventures and it is expected to have incredible box-office sales, at least equal to those of Potter’s previous adventures which, combined, had sales of 5.4 billion dollars.

Movie ticket website Fandango reported that, in the US, 900 movie screenings had already sold out, as it is the most anticipated film of the season.

The seventh Harry Potter adventure paves the way for other big-budget movies, such as “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” and “Little Fockers”, which have their debuts on December 10 and 22, respectively.

Another movie that launches on December 10, while not much in the family entertainment area, is “The Tourist”, where Johnny Depp falls in love with Angelina Jolie in an Italian scene.

A sequel of the 1982 movie “Tron” will also hit cinemas on December 17. “Tron: Legacy” will of course bring a significant tech upgrade to the 1982 predecessor and it is likely to generate further sequels.

On November 24, Brother Grimm fans will be able to enjoy “Rapunzel”, an animation musical. Another film that will hit the cinemas is a live action and 3D computer animated adventure featuring Hanna-Barbera’s famous bears Yogi and Boo Boo, with voices by Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake.

The story on which Tchaikovsky’s ballet is based on, “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”, also gets a 3D facelift in a movie where the title says all – the “The Nutcracker in 3D”, with Elle Fanning.
