How much exercise you need to burn calories in a can of Coca-Cola

Coca Cola nutrition informationThe UK website of Coca-Cola has a calorie calculator that shows not only how many calories its drinks contain, but suggests certain activities necessary to burn calories from a can of Coca-Cola, according to Huffington Post.

A 330-ml can of Coca-Cola contains 139 calories, enough to allow a woman of 60 kg (132 pounds) to play basketball for 17 minutes to walk the dog for 29 minutes or ironing for 70 minutes, shows the company website in the UK.

“Making sure there isn’t an imbalance between the amount of calories you take in each day and the amount you burn can help you to maintain a healthy weight – and the best way to ensure energy balance is by eating a well-balanced diet and enjoying regular physical activity,” says the Coca Cola website.

Research shows that displaying calories in this way on the products is more efficient compared with labels that list only the number of calories or not. A study of consumer habits on soft drinks by teenagers showed that when there was not shown on the container how much exercise would be necessary to burn the calories, the sales of beverages containing sugar have decreased and the sales of those without sugar, like water, have doubled.

But the global giant of soft drinks does not rely on this effect of decreasing sales. Drinks included in the online computer of the company website are those containing the fewest calories and sugar.

It should be noted that not all calories are created the same. There is evidence that getting calories from beverages have a different effect on the body than those obtained from food.

A calorie is a unit of energy that the body uses to perform various daily activities, including involuntary activities such as breathing, maintaining body temperature and digestion of food. On the labels, the energy is expressed in kilocalories, which is 1,000 calories. Since the expression in calories would complicate things, as the unit is too small, they use kilocalories, which is sometimes called calories.

It is generally accepted that the weight gain is the result of getting a surplus of calories that are not burned in physical activities.
