World-famous book writer J.K. Rowling is set to write the script for three more movies related to Harry Potter’s adventures. The movie trilogy will be based on the book “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” a textbook used by students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The actual 54-page book was originally published by Rowling in 2001 for the Comic Relief Charity.
The idea that the book will be turned into a film was announced last September by Warner Bros. Entertainment CEO Kevin Tsujihara, who teamed up with Rowling on the movie adaptation. However, it was only recently that Tsujihara has convinced the 48-year old best-selling book author to pen the screenplay for three Harry Potter spin-off movies.
“Three megamovies are planned. The main character will be a ‘magizoologist’ named Newt Scamander. The stories, neither prequels or sequels, will start in New York about seven decades before the arrival of Mr. Potter and his pals,” a statement reads at the New York Times, which was the first one to break the news.
The main character of the upcoming movie trilogy is the famous “magizoologist” named Newt Scamander, who also authored “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” in the Harry Potter stories. A magizoologist, which was first mentioned in “Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone,” the first Harry Potter book, is a scholar who specializes in the study of magical creatures. The textbook is part of the requirements that all first-year students at Hogwarts should read.
The spin-off story is set in New York City, seventy years before even Harry Potter was born. The stories are original and are not prequels or sequels of Harry Potter stories. As of this writing, there are no movie release dates yet as well as movie cast. What is clear for now is that original Harry Potter stars Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe, and Emma Watson will not be included.
