Jose Mourinho is the best paid coach

Jose MourinhoReal Madrid’s soccer coach Jose Mourinho was the best paid coach in 2011, with €14.8 million, followed by Carlo Ancelotti (now at Paris Saint Germain), with €13.5 million and Pep Guardiola (FC Barcelona) – €9.5 million, shown in a top made by France Football. The 49-year-old Portuguese was the first coach in the world who has exceeded €10 million per year in salary, when he was coaching the Italian team Inter Milan, for which he received 11 million euros per year. Cited source states that “Mou” has now the same salary at Real Madrid, the difference up to 14.8 million euros coming from advertising rights.

Ancelotti owes its revenue from the period when he led Chelsea. Much of Italian coach money is due to the amount of €7.2 million that he received when he was expelled from the London group. France Football estimated that Guardiola could be this year the new “number 1” if he will part ways with FC Barcelona and sign a new contract, as the teams that would be interested in Spanish coach services include AC Milan, Manchester United.

The fourth place in the hierarchy is held by the Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger, with €9 million, followed by Dutchman Guus Hiddink, now at Anji Makhachkala, with €8.6 million, the Italian Fabio Capello, former coach of England, with €8.5 million, Scotsman Alex Ferguson (Manchester United) – €8 million, Dutchman Dick Advocaat, coach of Russia – €7 million, Spaniard Jose Antonio Camacho, coach of China – €6.1 million. Italian Roberto Mancini (Manchester City) is at the bottom of Top 10, with €5.9 million.

In 2010, the top income places wwere held in order by Mourinho – €13.5 million, Guardiola – €10.5 million and Rafa Benitez (Liverpool and Inter Milan) – €10.2 million. Moreover, “Mou” dominates this ranking since 2005, with the exception of 2009, when the hierarchy was headed by the Brazilian Felipe Scolari, the Chelsea coach then and thereafter at Buniodkor (Uzbekistan).

In other sports, the highest income have technicians in the NBA, but their salaries are lower than in soccer. Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers was the highest paid, with €5.4 million, being followed by San Antonio Spurs team coach, Greg Popovich, and the coach of New York Nicks, Mike D’Antoni, both with €4.6 million.
