Canadian superstar Justin Bieber was detained at the Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday, after he arrived from Tokyo, Japan. The 20-year old “Boyfriend” singer was released after more than three hours of being detained U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at LAX airport, and without getting into new troubles. U.S. officials said the procedure is normal routine and “applicants for admission bear the burden of proof to establish that they are clearly eligible to enter the United States” and “must overcome ALL grounds of inadmissibility.”
Bieber and his entourage landed at the airport at around 1 p.m. PST that day boarding an Air Singapore flight. Shortly after, he was subjected to a routine question-and-answer process and secondary customs search. His friends waited for him patiently. Justin, who was smiling while being photographed by the media, left the airport without saying a word.
Bieber is now facing a DUI charge after he was arrested in Miami Beach last January. The same month, the controversial pop singer and his neighbor in Calabasas, California were involved in an alleged egg-throwing assault. He may face a possible vandalism case over this incident. He also faces a misdemeanor assault case in Toronto, where he allegedly attacked a limo driver in December.
Earlier this week while in Japan, Justin Bieber was criticized by his Chinese fans after he posted a photo on his Instagram account, posing in front of the Yasukuni Shrine. Apparently, the shrine honors more than 2 million Japanese who died during the Boshin War in 1868 up to the end of World War II. Nonetheless, it also honors those who are considered war criminals.
On Wednesday, Bieber made a public an apology, saying that he was made to think the shrine is a place of prayer. “To anyone I have offended I am extremely sorry. I love you China and I love you Japan.” Bieber tweeted, and deleted the photo being questioned.
