A New York convicted murderer posted today, 15 June, a statement on the website AllHipHop.com, in which he confesses that he killed the rapper Tupac Shakur in 1996 for $2,500 dollars. The man’s testimony is about to solve the mystery that shrouded the death of the singer for 15 years, writes The Christian Science Monitor.
New York Police (NYPD) is investigating a posting signed by Dexter Isaac, a delinquent locked in a criminal Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, claiming the he shot and robbed Tupac Shakur. The prisoner says that this was not his first attempt to kill Shakur. In 1994, he would have robbed the rapper in Manhattan, following orders from a rival of the singer. At that time Shakur suffered injuries from bullets, but eventually recovered. Two years later, Shakur was killed, but police failed to trace the culprits.
According to NYPD spokesman Paul Browne, the officials analyzed the posted message, and if it is proved that it belongs to Isaac, he will be called for questioning.
Tupac Shakur was shot by an unknown man while coming out from a boxing game of Mike Tyson in Las Vegas. The incident took place on September 7, 1996. The singer was then taken to hospital but did not survive. He died on September 13, 1996.
