Qatar Airways to be Publicly Listed in 2012

Qatar Airways plans to start an initial public offering (IPO) in the first half of 2012, reads a company announcement. The decision follows three very good years for Qatar Airways, as the company posted profits for three years in a row.

Company representatives were pretty confident that the Qatari national air company would manage to start the IPO early in 2012. Apparently, the company was planning to launch a public offering as soon as they had three consecutive years of positive financial results.

Qatar Airways posted profits in 2009, and they are headed towards closing this year with a positive bottom line as well. They are also confident about the prospects for 2011. The company declined to reveal any other details about the public listing, but said that Qatar Airways will focus on the company’s growth, by launching four new European destinations to their offer to clients.

Qatar is the country with the highest exports of liquefied natural gas in the world and it will be constructing a new airport. The new airport’s annual capacity would be of some 50 million travelers. The airport will be located in the country’s capital city, Doha, and in its opening year, 2012, it will only handle some 28 million air travelers per year.
