Singapore Open Might Have Its First Three-time Winner

Singapore Open may have a favorite. Adam Scott could become the first three-time winner of the tournament, as he finishes third round in the lead.

He is followed by Ian Poulter, the defending champion, and Kang Kyung-nam from South Korea, who have a 13 under par tie, while Graeme McDowell, US Open winner, comes in third.

Scott said he would be thrilled at a third victory in Singapore, and he enjoys returning to places where he has had great success. According to him, the defending champion and Graeme McDowell are more focused on the Dubai Race, which will actually give him a chance to get his third strike. McDowell though would get a great boost in the Race for Dubai should he score a win in Singapore.

Adam Scott has previously won two Singapore Open tournaments, in 2005 and in 2006. His performance this year was not spectacular, but steady. At this point he leads with one shot. He would have preferred to lead with two, but a two-shot difference is not huge, and it could be easily recovered by the runner-ups, especially since they have nothing to lose.

The 6 million dollars Singapore Open had its ranking points gain a boost from the presence of Phil Mickelson, Graeme Dowell and Martin Kaymer. The winner will receive more points than the 24 from a Disney Classic victory or 30 from a win in the Australian Masters, as the Singapore Open now has a pot of 48 points.
