Sony has revealed a new range of products at the IFA Berlin including the new Xperia Z1. The International Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA Berlin) is one of the biggest consumer electronics events. Every September there is a succession of announcements made by Samsung, Philips, Toshiba, LG, Loewe… from the beautiful city of Berlin.
But at this moment, it is Sony we are interested in with a conference underway at the time of this writing. It’s Kazuo Hirai himself, CEO of Sony, who came on stage to talk about Sony’s new products.
He started revealing Cybershot RX1R, Cybershot RX100, Mark II and NEX 5D: good quality cameras that will update the existing range of Sony. In terms of laptops, Sony unveils the VAIO Fit, which can be transformed easily in a tablet, like its big brother the VAIO Tap 11 with Windows 8.1.
The CEO of Sony reveals several new products such as Handycam 4K (a professional camera) and the new 4K TVs that allow you to enjoy your 2K movies in 4K.
But Sony wanted to reveal a novelty that will bring all its innovations in one device: the highly anticipated Xperia Z1.
The announcement of the new Xperia is greeted by the sound of dozens of cameras in the conference room. Hirai then begins to list the features including the 20.7 megapixel camera, the 5-inch screen with a quality equal to that of Sony TVs. The Social Live feature allows to broadcast live video to your friends and see on your screen the comments of your friends that would require, for example, to zoom in on something in particular.
PlayMemories Online is a cloud service offered by Sony that will collect all the pictures you take with your Xperia Z1 (or any other compatible devices, no other details given).
Sony Xperia Z1 will be available by the end of the month.
Sony QX10 and QX100: this new innovation was not able to stay behind the curtain of secrecy and had recently appeared in many images.
Sony’s bet is a pretty bold innovative system. Indeed, QX10 and QX100 are smart lenses that you can add to your Xperia Z1 or other Xperia phone to widely improve the quality of your photographs. In fact, the ambition is to offer a quality close to that of a real camera.
But Hirai was proud to announce that this innovation will also be suitable for a large number of smartphones, opening the competition to enable them and help us enjoy the technology.
