Steve Wozniak, Apple Co-Founder: Android Will Be the Dominant Smart Phone

Apple co-founder said in an interview with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that the Google Android operating system will become the dominant smart phone platform.

He said that iPhone “has very few weak points. There aren’t any real complaints and problems. In terms of quality, the iPhone is leading”, so they will grab the largest market segment.

Wozniak said that, currently, the experience on Apple terminals is the best, but he’s confident that in time it will be matched by the Android handsets, too. He also revealed that Apple originally wanted to launch a phone in 2004, along with “a well-known Japanese company”, but he quit because “wanted something revolutionary”.

Steve Wozniak also said that, “Android phones have more features,” and offer more choice for more people. Eventually, he thinks that Android quality, consistency, and user satisfaction will match iOS.

At the end of the interview, Steve Wozniak said about Nokia that it is “the brand from a previous generation”, suggesting that the Finnish company would require a shift towards a younger consumer.

Steve Wozniak founded Apple in the late ’70s with Steve Jobs. Although he remains a shareholder and maintain good relations with Jobs, he left the company in 1987 to devote himself to other projects. Wozniak is considered a legendary figure by the technology enthusiasts and his predictions are generally regarded as being very influential.
