Study: obsession with virtual sex may be linked to depression

Virtual sex webcamAustralian experts have found that cyber sex is one of the factors that can cause depression.

When virtual sex is better than real sex

At a time of life heavily influenced by a more energetic pace, in addition to work responsibilities, people can hardly find time to look for romance and love to get everything that a relationship could offer. Sex is included.

And, as sex is sometimes a complicated and difficult thing, the Internet is a perfect solution for a replacement. People simply avoid all the agony of the first (and the next) meetings by visiting porn sites and erotic chat rooms. Men do not worry about the erection or premature ejaculation in virtual sex, because it is all about masturbation.

Moreover, people turn out to be their own porn directors when it comes to virtual sex. They enter the sites they like and what excites them most at that time. Thus, men participate in sex with two women immediately, while women can enjoy passionate sex on their secret fantasies. In short, they become true voyeurs.

First was a brunette then a blonde. Sometimes they like the rear end, sometimes big boobs. All this is at their fingertips, or in other words, at the distance of one click. Those involved in this point out that the virtual sex has the advantage of being similar to having sex with a stranger.

You could become unsociable

A study by Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, showed that regular users of erotic sites spend several hours a day at the computer for their hobby, which it can gradually lead to loss of social contact and destruction of their social life.

The reason for this erotic hobby taking so long is that users are mostly men looking for women to be willing to participate in the above mentioned sexual practices and satisfy them quickly. According to users, you are more likely to find a needle in a hay cart than a woman ready to meet for virtual sex.

Individuals included in the study were educated people, and when asked “When was the last time you had a serious relationship”, there was a long pause for thinking before giving the answer.

Most people are browsing through sex sites and chat rooms about 12 hours per week. In their hot sessions, they use cameras, videos, pictures and erotic emails. However, 65% of people surveyed said that they wanted to meet the person from the other end.

You could become depressed

The study did not show only the effect on people’s social life. Of 1,325 people surveyed, there was a high rate of users with poor mental health. More than 27% of respondents were classified in the category average-major depression, 30% of them felt deep anxiety and unexplained fear, while 35% showed signs of nervous tension.

A statistical analysis showed that the growth rate of depression and strain of the respondents is directly proportional to the time spent on the Internet. Therefore, those who spent more time surfing erotic websites have more severe signs of depression.

But this is somewhat similar to the question about chicken and egg: which came first? Same question we can ask ourselves while we read the study data.
