Thalia and Tommy Mottola Have a Baby Boy

Mexican singer and actress Thalia, who is married to music mogul Tommy Mottola, gave birth Saturday to a boy named Matthew Alejandro, according to an announcement posted on the Twitter account of the artist.

Thalia and Tommy Mottola have been married for almost 11 years and have together a daughter, Sabrina Sakae, born in October 2007.

Pregnant with the couple’s second child, Thalia said on Saturday morning on Twitter, that she went to the hospital, and after a few hours has posted a new post on her account on the microblogging platform: “Es un niño! It’s a boy!”

Subsequently, on the artist‘s account the official announcement read: “Thalia, Tommy and Sabrina are very happy to announce the birth of Matthew Alejandro Mottola on June 25, 2011”.

Thalia, the Mexican singer and actress, and former president of Sony Music Entertainment, Tommy Mottola, aged 61, were married on December 2, 2000.

During her career, Thalia, aged 39, worked as a telenovela actress, singer, TV presenter, fashion designer, magazine editor and model.

Thalia became famous in 1981 as a singer of the Din Din musical group of children. Meanwhile, she not only became one of the most popular television actresses from Mexico, but has built a major musical career with over 12 million albums sold worldwide.

Tommy Mottola was not only the producer behind many artists but also their mentor, being considered a talent trainer. Some of his famous artists include: John Mellencap, Diana Ross and Taylor Dayne in the 80s, Mariah Carey – who was his wife – in the ’90s, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and Ricky Martin in the early 2000s . Currently, Tommy Mottola is the owner of Casablanca Records label along with Universal Music Group.
