Deputy Ambassador of the Libyan Mission to the UN, Ibrahim Dabbashi, said Friday during a news conference that the deaths in Libya is in the thousands, not hundreds of people.
“Dictator’s (Muammar Kadhafi) regime lives its last moments. There are thousands of people arriving in Tripoli and gather in the main square in Tripoli, Martyr’s Square”, added the diplomat, who withdrew his support to Gaddafi on Monday.
“These people will win”, but Moammar Gaddafi has sent “the terrorists against the protesters ” and “we expect thousands of dead in Tripoli today, ” he said.
In other news: Libyan security forces have fired on demonstrators in several districts of the capital Tripoli; leaving the Friday prayers, several people were killed, witnesses said.
“Security forces fired on demonstrators, there are dead in the streets of Soug Al Jomaa Soug” said an man living in this district.
Witnesses in other districts of the eastern suburb, such as Ben Ashur and Fashlum, reported gunfire on “all those who are on the street. ”
“They are firing on unarmed civilians leaving the prayer, ” said one resident of the residential neighborhood of Ben Ashur.
