Western countries have asked Gaddafi to step down, stop any violence and crackdown on the Libyan protests, as they increase military pressure and warships will be passing through Suez Canal while sailing to Libya.
It is being anticipated that Libya can get into civil war if Gaddafi didn’t quit and this may cause a big human loss during the uprising against the Libyan ruler that has been in power for a long time.
Gaddafi is still challenging all the opponents, warning again of any military operation against his rule; Saif, his son, has also clearly conveyed that the defiant ruler will not leave the power or the country.
Italy stated that they plan to send a mission to Tunisia for providing medical aid and other necessities like food to many people who have fled Libya and taken refuge across the border.
As many people tried to cross the border, the guards at the Tunisian border fired in the air in an effort to control them.
Saif al Islam said in an interview to a Libyan TV channel that they are ready to fight any force that will be used against Libya.
Hillary Clinton also remarked that Libya can become peaceful or can get into civil war as US was already moving its ships as well as planes towards Libya.
The USS Barry destroyer already went through Suez Canal into Mediterranean Sea while USS Kearsarge and USS Ponce assault ships will be following it shortly.
It was stated by Robert Gates, the US Defense Secretary, that even though they are looking at many options and so far no specific decisions were being made, they were not ignoring any option.
Alain Juppe, the Foreign Minister of France, remarked that any military intervention will not be carried out without the support of United Nations.
