Google has proposed on Friday the make use of its YouTube video service to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that followed in Japan to find people that have gone missing, AFP informs.
The site has posted online videos of the disaster victims who request information about friends and family members that are missing.
These records, which generally lasts less than a minute, were made in shelters and could be found at: www.youtube.com/shousoku.
After the earthquake, Google has launched a “Missing Persons” service, later transformed in the video service, but also using the Picasa photo site.
A multilingual web page containing these calls, phone numbers of the emergency services and aid organizations, as well as information about travel opportunities and a map, have also been posted.
A Google spokesman indicated on Thursday that many employees have decided to devote 20% of during their work, personal projects of their official reserves to support Japan.
