Chelsea Clinton Pregnant, Hillary Clinton to Become First-time Grandma

Chelsea Clinton announces pregnancyChelsea Clinton announced publicly on Thursday night that she is pregnant with her first baby. She made her announcement during the “Girls: A No Ceilings Conversation” event held in Lower East Side of Manhattan. As expected, her parents, former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton are very excited to become grandparents for the first time.

“Marc and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year. I just hope that I will be as good a mom to my child, and hopefully children, as my mom was to me. I certainly feel all the better whether it’s a girl or a boy that they’ll grow up in a world with so many strong female leaders.” The 34-year old former presidential daughter said, as her mother looks on seating next to her.

The 66-year old former US First Lady said that she is excited on what is happening now in their family. She added that she is also excited on the latest development of their Clinton Foundation, where Chelsea is serving as the vice chairperson. This non-profit organization was created by their family and works on issues concerning women and girls around the globe.

“Excited to add a new line to my Twitter bio… grandfather to be! @hillaryclinton and I are so happy for Chelsea and Marc!” A tweet on the official Twitter account of Bill Clinton was posted later that day. Almost the same time, Hillary Clinton also posted her excitement on Twitter.

Born Chelsea Victoria Clinton, she is married to Marc Mezvinsky. Their wedding took place in Rhinebeck, New York back in July 2010. Chelsea spent her teenage years in the White House and also serves as a NBC News special correspondent. On the other hand, Mark is an investment banker and the son of two former members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is being touted to run for president in the upcoming 2016 US election. Although some experts believe that she will run, the Mr. Bill Clinton said in a recent CBS News interview that her wife prefers to be a grandmother than to be a president.
