In this photo, the legendary American singer is smiling and wearing a blue blouse and a black skirt. The photo on the cover of the German edition of Vogue magazine was taken by Claudia Knoepfel and Stefan Indlekofer, coordinated by the stylist Nicola Knels. The singer will be seen in a photo editorial included inside the magazine.

According to fashion editors from the site Fashionista.com, Tina Turner, at the age of 73, is probably the oldest star who appears on the cover of Vogue. This title was previously held by the actress Meryl Streep, who posed in 2012 for the cover of the American edition of Vogue at the age of 62.

Tina Turner has been for many decades one of the most successful singers in the world, thanks to songs like “Simply The Best”, “What’s Love Got To Do With It” and “Proud Mary.”

Tina Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939, in Brownsville (Tennessee). Her father worked on a cotton plantation and her mother was Native American. The singer, a Baptist, converted to Buddhism in 1970.

After high school, Tina Turner moved to St. Louis, the blues capital, where she met Ike Turner, a guitarist eight years older than her. Their first single – “Fool in Love” – ​​climbed to first place in the Hit Parade. She married Ike Turner in 1962.

Her mainstream success came in 1966, with the release of “River Deep – Mountain High”, composed for her by Phil Spector.

Tina Turner’s marriage began to deteriorate after Ike Turner became addicted to drugs and he started to abuse her. Tina Turner left him on July 2, 1976, after suffering a beating from Ike, taking with her  four children, including two from a previous relationship of her husband.

During divorce, the singer gave up any support from Ike and the rights to common songs. She began her solo career in 1984 in New York, when she was in debt half a million dollars and was living on welfare. In the same year, at the age of 45, Tina Turner has won four Grammy Awards for the album that marked her comeback in the music industry, “Private Dancer” and starred with Mel Gibson in “Mad Max – Beyond Thunderdome.”

According to recent information, Tina Turner received in late January the right of residence in Switzerland and intends to give up U.S. citizenship after getting the Swiss citizenship.
